Round 12 of coal mine auction begins today

The coal ministry is set to launch the 12th round of commercial coal mine auctions, offering 25 blocks, on Thursday. This initiative aims to boost domestic coal production and reduce imports, thereby enhancing long-term energy security. Additionally, three partially explored mines are being offered under the second attempt of round 11.

New Delhi: The coal ministry will launch the 12th round of commercial coal mine auctions on Thursday, offering 25 blocks.

The blocks comprise seven mines under the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Act and 18 mines under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act. Of the total, 13 are fully explored blocks while 12 are partially explored, the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

This initiative marks another significant step towards enhancing domestic coal production, reducing imports and ensuring long-term energy security for the nation, the ministry said.

In addition, under the second attempt of round 11, the coal ministry is offering three partially explored coal mines under the MMDR Act, providing significant investment opportunities while reinforcing domestic coal production and energy security.

The ministry recently concluded the 11th round.
