The Royals defeated the Super Kings by a slim margin of 6 runs on Sunday, giving Parag his first victory as captain of Rajasthan after two straight losses.

Following a fragmented series of performances on the field, when Rajasthan’s bowling unit paid through the nose and their batsmen tilted at windmills, attention was drawn to Parag’s leadership.

Nevertheless, Rajasthan’s losing trend was ended by a team effort in which every department sung in unison together.

Regarding the 23-year-old’s role as captain, Nitish said that he doesn’t think a player’s capacity to lead a team should be evaluated by their performance. As a captain, Riyal provides a calming presence for Nitish.

Captaincy, in my opinion, is goal-oriented. You are regarded as a good captain if you win, but I don’t think so. “As a captain, Riyan is composed,” Nitish said at the news conference held after the game.

Moments of genius from certain players influenced the course of the captivating game, which had momentum that fluctuated like a pendulum.

With an impressive 81 from 36 deliveries, Nitish helped the Royals to a respectable 182/9. Prior to his blazing blitzkrieg, however, the southpaw selected Riyan’s one-handed stunner to eliminate Shivam Dube as the pivotal moment.

Nitish said, “Riyan’s catch was the important turning point of the game,” when asked what factor changed the outcome of the match.

Nitish believed that 200 was the ideal score even though he set a difficult total on the board. However, Rajasthan’s first victory in the 18th season of the lucrative league was made possible by tearaway Jofra Archer’s scorching streak, which left Chennai exhausted in the powerplay.

“I believed we were lacking by 15 to 20 runs. On this surface, however, a 180-run total was optimal. Jofra Archer deserves praise for his outstanding powerplay spell,” he said.
