
Swami Ramdev, more famously called ‘Baba Ramdev’ by billions of people, has played a major role in bringing the ancient practices of Yoga to the forefront. And he did not start it with the TikTok or Instagram trend, but was an active supporter and Guru of Yoga for many many years before. What started as a spiritual and wellness movement in India with Yoga retreats, small camps, and videos online, quickly became a global phenomenon, thanks to his consistent efforts to promote yoga as a simple, natural way to improve health and well-being.
And Baba Ramdev’s Yoga sessions have transformed millions of lives around the world, helping people manage lifestyle-related issues, reduce stress, and build a connection with their mind and body.
One of the main reasons for the success of Baba Ramdev’s yoga teachings is his practical approach. He simplified yoga techniques so that anyone, young or old, beginner or experienced, could follow along. He did not just focus on difficult poses and complicated movements of the body, he also taught and started with the easy things like Kapalbhati , Anulom Vilom , and Pranayam, which are known to help with calming the nerves, improve blood circulation, and even manage chronic illnesses. These breathing exercises, when done regularly, showed great results for many people who couldn’t find relief through conventional medicine.
Baba Ramdev became immensely popular with his early morning yoga camps broadcast on television, and these sessions were not pre-recorded or had a set procedure. They were candid, Baba Ramdev took questions from the audience, showed people how easy and fun Yoga could be, and much more. Plus. he taught yoga in Hindi, using a language and tone that connected well with common people.
Soon, people started practicing along with him from their homes, and some even travelled all the way to his Ashrams and retreat camps.

What set Baba Ramdev apart was his belief that yoga is for everyone, not just for fitness freaks. When interacting with the audience, Baba Ramdev was candid, truthful, honest, and also fun, and so people had no problem following along in his steps and movements, and gaining health as they did so.
He also talked about how Yoga is an important part of everyday life, and asked the elders and the children, the young and the old, the stressed employees and the stay-at-home mothers, to join him in the morning every day and spare some time for themselves and their health, and be better people.
