Ahmedabad: In a remarkable display of power hitting, KL Rahul, the wicketkeeper-batter for Delhi Capitals, has set a new record by becoming the fastest Indian to hit 200 sixes in the IPL. He achieved this milestone during his 128th innings against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday.

Rahul showcased his aggressive batting style by targeting Mohammed Siraj in the third over. After hitting a four off the previous ball, he created room and launched a massive six over long-on. This achievement puts him ahead of Rajasthan Royals' captain Sanju Samson, who reached the same milestone in 159 innings. Other notable Indian players include MS Dhoni (165 innings), Virat Kohli (180 innings), Rohit Sharma (185 innings), and Suresh Raina (193 innings).

Globally, Rahul ranks as the third fastest to reach this landmark, trailing only West Indies legends Chris Gayle and Andre Russell, who accomplished it in 69 and 97 innings, respectively.

During the match, Rahul maintained an impressive strike rate of 200, scoring a quick 28 runs to help propel Delhi Capitals' innings during the powerplay. Unfortunately, he was dismissed in the fifth over by a yorker from Prasidh Krishna that trapped him in front of the stumps.

This season, Rahul has been in exceptional form, boasting a strike rate of 158.33, the highest in his 12-year IPL career. He has amassed 266 runs in just six innings, proving to be a crucial player for his team.

His standout performance came against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where he scored an unbeaten 93, leading his team to a six-wicket victory at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. He also played a key role in a 25-run win over Chennai Super Kings with a score of 77. Additionally, he was instrumental in guiding the team to a thrilling Super Over victory against Rajasthan Royals, showcasing his clutch batting ability and the team's confidence in him.
