The hit Hum TV drama Qarz-e-Jaan, which is reaching its end, has enticed viewers with its compelling narrative. Directed by Saqib Khan and penned by Rabia Razzzaque, the drama boasts of a star cast, including Yumna Zaidi and Usama Khan in central roles.

Recently, in an interview with Canadian digital content creator Guriya, Rabia Razzzaque revealed some interesting facts regarding the casting for the drama. She disclosed that she was apprehensive about casting Yumna Zaidi as Nashwa, the lead female character in the beginning. “I initially thought that Yumna may not fit Nashwa’s age group, but Saqib assured me that I should not fret. Yumna’s work has been exceptional, and I’m totally content with the way she portrayed Nashwa now,” added the writer.

Interestingly, Rabia Razzzaque revealed that she had originally pictured Sajal Aly playing the role of Nashwa. However, upon viewing Yumna’s performance, she feels that the actress was truly the ideal candidate for the part. “Yumna doesn’t only concentrate on looking beautiful on camera; she thinks about the essence of the character, ignoring trivial aspects such as her eyebrows or hair,” Rabia explained.

The author also responded to the imperfections in Nashwa’s personality, stating that although she is depicted as confident and ambitious, she too has her share of mistakes. “Nashwa is real life. We tend to link confidence with perfection but, as they say, to err is human. Nashwa is no hero; she’s an ordinary girl who, like all of us, will learn from her mistakes,” Rabia added.

This frank dialogue demystifies the depth of the character and calls attention to the author’s thoughtful narrative style, which focuses on the human and relatable nature of Nashwa’s experience.
