Honda Elevate gets 5-star safety rating from JNCAP, model in India will create a boom in Japan

Obnews Automobile Desk: Honda Elevate has achieved a 5-star safety rating at Japan New Car Assessment Program (JNCAP). This was the first international safety testing of this SUV, which was done after launch. The special thing is that this vehicle is constructed at the Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, India and is sold in Japan by rebrands in the name of WR-V.

Great performance in safety score

Under the 2024 JNCAP evaluation, Honda Elevate (or WR-V) scored 176.23 out of a total of 193.8. It contains 95% Preventive Safety Score (82.22/85.8) and 86% collagen safety score (86.01/100). Not only this, the automatic emergency call system in it also scored 8 out of 8, which reflects its emergency response abilities.

Unmatched security in crash test

  • In the full-fruit collision test, the driver got 96% and the passenger sitting behind got 88% security score.
  • The offset frontal test got 86.9% score for the driver and 100% score for the passenger sitting behind.
  • It also obtained the maximum score in the Side Colejan Test.
  • Pedestrian safety got 2.91/4 for head impact and 4/4 marks for leg protection.

Engine and performance

The WR-V in the Japanese market has the same 1.5-liter Natural Aspirated Petrol Engine available in Indian Honda Elevate. This engine generates power of 119 bhp and torque of 145 Nm. In Japan it has been introduced only with CVT automatic transmission, manual option is not available.
