Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star batsman Virat Kohli looked a little surprised to receive the Player of the Match award. Kohli played an unbeaten 73-run innings against Punjab Kings, helping RCB beat Punjab by seven wickets. Kohli was the highest run-scorer for the team in this match, but he feels that this award should have been given to Devdutt Padikkal or any bowler who stopped Punjab at 157 runs.

Kohli stayed till the end.

Chasing the target, Kohli stayed till the end, helping RCB achieve the target in just 18.5 overs. Kohli said, there should be a mindset of getting two points in every match. I wanted to move faster. I felt that Padikkal did something different today, he should get this award, I don't know why they gave it to me. I try to stay there, hold one end, and try to move fast later. There is always a temptation to keep moving in the same way.

RCB reached third place in the table
RCB registered this victory after losing against the same team less than 48 hours ago. Kohli laid the foundation for the team's victory by sharing 103 runs for the second wicket with Devdutt Padikkal (61) and during this, he hit his fourth half-century of the season. RCB's team has now reached third place with 10 points.

Kohli said we have prepared ourselves well. Padikkal can play around me, maybe Rajat Patidar can play around me. There is always a temptation to move forward in the same way. We know that a partnership is enough to chase the target in T20 cricket. If needed, I can score runs fast.

Kohli has so far scored 8,326 runs in the IPL and has scored 322 runs in eight matches in the current season. He said this was a very important match for us. When you go from eight points to 10 it makes a lot of difference. We have played some great cricket away from home. Our mindset should be to get two points in every match.
