As part of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana, the Uttar Pradesh government is working twice as hard to build solar rooftop plants. With a present pace of over 11,000 installations per month and 500 installations per day, the state has already installed over one lakh plants.

In order to reach a total of 2.65 lakh plants in the fiscal year 2025–2026, the government plans to dramatically raise this pace to 22,000 installations every month. Under the programme, an average of 300 new solar power plants will be erected in each district. By March 2027, the ultimate objective is to have eight lakh solar rooftop plants installed in Uttar Pradesh.

At the district, discom, municipal corporation, and municipality levels, specific goals have been established. The Chief Minister’s dashboard makes it easier to track the project’s development in real time.

The PM Surya Ghar Yojana’s scope is being aggressively expanded by UPNEDA. By March 2025, they are contacting candidates from the 10.73 lakh applications that were received via the platform and hiring suppliers.

For the project’s realisation by April 2025, more than 2500 vendors have been hired, and over 1800 of them have undergone training. Additionally, many suppliers are receiving financial assistance in the form of credit guarantee programs and loans.

With assistance from UPNEDA, the Ministry of Skill Development, Government of India, and the National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development, training is carried out in stages. This programme, which was started in February 2024, is a crucial component of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s efforts to advance green energy in the state.
