A year after getting dropped from the BCCI contract list, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer made their returns as the apex board handed them central contracts for the 2024/25 season. India Test and ODI captain, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli were retained in the Grade A+ category along with Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja.
Ishan and Shreyas were dropped from the contract list for skipping domestic cricket last year. Ishan took a break from the game and returned home from South Africa before the start of the Test series in the 2023/24 season. He made his return for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024.
Shreyas did play domestic cricket but missed a game despite the BCCI's order. He made his return during the season but didn't make it to the contract list. Unlike Ishan, Shreyas made his Team India comeback and is a regular in the ODI team. Shreyas is in Grade B while Ishan has been given a Grade C contract.

Rohit, Virat, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah are 4 cricketers in the Grade A+ category. Since Rohit, Virat and Jadeja retired from T20Is after the 2024 World Cup, they weren't expected to get top contracts as this grade includes players who are regular in all formats. The trio continues to play Test and ODI cricket.
Shubman Gill, India's white-ball vice-captain, has been handed a Grade A contract, while Suryakumar Yadav, India's T20I captain, has a Grade B contract. The right-handed batsman isn't part of the Test and ODI teams. Yashasvi Jaiswal, a regular in Tests and T20IS, is in Grade B.
Varun Chakaravarthy has been handed his maiden BCCI contract. He is in Grade C contract along with Harshit Rana, Abhishek Sharma, Akash Deep and few others.
The players in Grade A+ have a salary of Rs 7 crore while those in Grade A earn Rs 5 crore. The players in Grade B and C have a salary of Rs 3 crore and 1 crore, respectively.
