Health Update on Governor CV Ananda Bose

Kolkata: On Monday afternoon, CV Ananda Bose, the Governor of West Bengal, was admitted to the hospital following a routine medical examination that revealed cardiac blockage. He is currently receiving treatment at the Command Hospital located in South Kolkata, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited him to check on his condition.

Sources from Raj Bhavan indicated that the Governor had gone for a standard health check-up when the doctors discovered the blockage. To ensure his safety, they recommended immediate hospitalization.

Upon learning of his admission, Chief Minister Banerjee hurried to the Command Hospital to inquire about Bose's health. After her visit, she mentioned, “I came to check on the Governor's health after hearing about his admission. I will now head to Midnapore but plan to return to Kolkata tomorrow after attending my scheduled events in the district.”

The Governor had just returned to Kolkata on Saturday night after a two-day visit to Murshidabad district, which had recently experienced significant unrest due to communal violence sparked by protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act.

During his visit, he also toured a temporary relief camp in the nearby Malda district, where individuals displaced by the violence in Murshidabad are currently sheltered.

Bose stated that he intends to submit a comprehensive report of his observations to the Union government and discuss the situation with the Chief Minister. He also plans to address the local community's request for establishing permanent Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) camps in the affected areas.

Additionally, on Sunday evening, the Governor met with a delegation from the National Commission of Women (NCW), including its Chairperson, to discuss the issues in Murshidabad. He assured the delegation of his commitment to ensuring the safety of women and children in the district.
