Gujarat Titans delivered a all-round performance to secure a convincing 39-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Monday, April 21.
KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and opted to bowl first and invited GT to bat first. Gujarat’s top order started their innings on a strong note as skipper Shubman Gill smashed a brillinat 90 off just 55 balls, anchoring the innings with grace and aggression.
Gill’s opening partner, Sai Sudharsan, continued his impressive form, registering yet another half-century with a solid 52 off 36 deliveries. The duo laid a strong partnership as GT posted a challenging total of 198/3 in their 20 overs.
In response, Kolkata Knight Riders struggled to gain momentum. Despite a valiant effort from captain Ajinkya Rahane, who scored 50 off 36 balls, kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The Gujarat bowling unit remained disciplined, with both Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan taking two wickets conceding 25 runs, effectively choking KKR’s chase.
Eventually, KKR failed to chase down the target of 198. They fell short by 39 runs as they managed to score 159 in their 20 overs.
