“I am learning from Sai Kishore”: Rashid Khan reveals why 28-year-old Indian spinner is special

Rashid Khan finally found some momentum in the Indian Premier League 2025. He took two wickets in Gujarat Titans’ 39-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. He got rid of Sunil Narine and Andre Russell. However, he has been struggling for a long time, and his performances in the 18th season of the tournament haven’t been clinical. In 8 matches, he has taken six wickets at an average of 46.33 and an economy of 9.26.

Despite Rashid’s below-par performances, Gujarat Titans haven’t been found wanting in the spin department, as Sai Kishore has handled the workload to perfection. The young Indian bowler hasn’t conceded runs at an alarming pace and is taking wickets in every match.

Shubman Gill has relied more on the 28-year-old tweaker than the legendary Afghanistan bowler. He is the third leading wicket-taker with 12 scalps from eight matches at an average of 16.33 and an economy of 8.22.

Rashid hailed his teammate after restricting KKR to 159/8 while chasing 199. “Sai Kishore and I talk a lot before the matches. I told him that we can’t rely on pitches and it is important to pitch the ball in the right areas. I like the way he bowls and uses his variations. I am learning from him,” Rashid Khan said.

“I also want to bowl like him. I share my expereince with him and also take knowledge from Sai on how to bowl on such Indian wickets,” he added.
