New Delhi: BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal responded sharply to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s comments on the Election Commission of India during his recent trip to the United States, casting doubt on Gandhi’s comprehension and intentions.
“Rahul Gandhi is unsure about his own words. He believes he is speaking sanely when he says certain things in a foreign country, but this is not the case. The media was informed by Khandelwal.
The Congress politician was charged by the BJP MP with damaging India’s reputation abroad.
The BJP MP said that “he makes fun of India all over the world.”
In addition, Khandelwal denounced the Congress party as a “rejected group,” claiming that the nation and many states have been drifting away from it over time.
“I don’t think elections are conducted with so much transparency in any other country as in India,” Khandelwal added, defending India’s democratic process. “But Rahul Gandhi and the Congress are a rejected group. First the country and then the states started rejecting them. Rahul Gandhi lacks a lot of wisdom.”
Rahul Gandhi’s remarks were deemed “misleading” and “incorrect” by Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC, who also charged Gandhi with “defaming” India.
“Rahul Gandhi has the gall to criticize the Indian Election Commission. He ought to ask questions in Parliament as an entitled Indian youngster. He decides against going to Parliament. He ought to bring up important concerns in India, but he chooses not to, and as a result, these false and deceptive accusations have become commonplace. Section 22 of the Representation of People’s Act got very few applications for inclusion, and Section 23 for voters received very few applications, according to the Election Commission’s clarification.
According to information made available by the Election Commission, Maharashtra only got 89 appeals. Nevertheless, Rahul Gandhi disparages India and shows disdain for the nation to which he belongs,” Shaina NC told the media report.
Sushil Gupta, the president of the AAP Haryana, attacked the Congress MP, saying that they should fight the struggle domestically rather than attacking the government and the electoral process outside.
But Gupta also advocated for changes to the electoral process.
“The election process needs to be reformed,” he said. EVMs are criticized, but I think the nation should take up the fight within. Instead of condemning the administration and the electoral process outside, we should fight this war here.
In a speech to the Indian diaspora in Boston, Massachusetts, Rahul Gandhi said that the Indian Election Commission (EC) was “compromised,” implying that there was a serious flaw in the system.
The senior Congress politician used the Maharashtra elections as an example, claiming that it was impossible to add 65 lakh people to the voter list in two hours.
“More people voted in Maharashtra than the total number of people in Maharashtra, and this is a fact… The Election Commission gave us a figure in the evening around 5:30 p.m., and in two hours, around 7:30 p.m., 65 lakh voters had voted, which is physically impossible…” he said during his speech.
The BJP criticized the Congress MP’s comments. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Monday that the Rae Bareli MP’s expression betrays his anger at his ongoing losses.
“Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has once again questioned the credibility of the Election Commission from a foreign land,” Pradhan said in a post on X. It is regrettable that Rahul Gandhi never stops expressing his hatred for India and its democratic institutions when he goes outside.
The ‘crown prince’ of the ‘royal’ family, who has ruled for decades, is really annoyed by the international attention that India’s magnificent democratic traditions are receiving. Because of this, he never passes up the chance to disparage the nation and its people,” Pradhan said.
Rahul Gandhi, a Congress MP, was advised by the Union Minister not to damage India’s democratic reputation only because the country lost an election.
“The world, in addition to the nation, believes in the legitimacy of our great democratic principles. However, Rahul Gandhi’s visage betrays his anger at his constant losses. Dharmendra Pradhan urged Rahul Gandhi to refrain from undermining India’s democratic honor based on election results.
