Elliot Anderson, a midfielder for Nottingham Forest in London, says he is eager to return to the UEFA Champions League and thinks his team has a good chance of making it to the tournament next season after a 2-1 victory against Spurs helped them recapture third position in the Premier League standings.

Nottingham Forest defeated Spurs in their first-ever meeting at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with to goals from Chris Wood and Elliot Anderson in the first half.

“I really want to be there once again. The Premier League website quoted Anderson as saying, “It was a really proud moment to play in the Champions League, and to be honest, I never thought I’d be playing in my first season away from Newcastle. However, I think we’ve got a good chance if we keep going the way we’re going and do what we’ve done all season.”

After suffering two consecutive league losses going into Monday’s game, Forest bounced back with their ninth away victory of the season, second only to leaders Liverpool’s 11.

“Getting back on track and carrying out our season-long activities was crucial. To earn the three points, everyone in the room is giddy.

“It was crucial to arrive quickly in order to attempt to score the opening goal. It prepared us well for the match, and [Chris] Wood’s second one was undoubtedly excellent. “Really, it was just about maintaining the lead,” Anderson said.

Prior to their matchup with Manchester City in the Emirates FA Cup semi-final next weekend, Forest has moved back up to third place in the Premier League.

Teddy Sheringham, a former Forest striker, thinks Nuno Espirito Santo’s team can finish in the top five and earn a Champions League berth the following season.

“They will have a great deal of confidence. “You would think they would be able to overpower them with their determination to get results,” Sheringham said, adding that the teams they are playing for have nothing to gain.
