Television actress Shubhangi Atre, best known for her role as Angoori Bhabi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, is grieving the loss of her ex-husband, Piyush Poorey. Piyush, a digital marketing professional, passed away on Saturday after a prolonged battle with liver cirrhosis, as reported by various sources.

Shubhangi Requests Privacy

In a brief statement to Times of India, Shubhangi expressed her sorrow and requested space to cope with the loss. “Your thoughtfulness during this time means a great deal to me. I request you to give me some time to talk about this,” she said. A source close to the actress shared that Shubhangi and Piyush were not in touch at the time of his passing. Despite her grief, the actress resumed shooting for her show on Sunday.

A Marriage That Spanned Two Decades

Shubhangi and Piyush were married in 2003 and share a daughter, Ashi, born in 2006. After being together for over 20 years, the couple officially finalized their divorce on February 5, 2025. In an earlier interview with Bombay Times, Shubhangi opened up about the challenges in their relationship. “It was painful. I was fully invested in the relationship. Over time, Piyush and I developed irreconcilable differences,” she shared.
