Mumbai: Sita Navami, also known as Janaki Jayanti, is a deeply revered Hindu festival celebrated a month after Ram Navami. This auspicious occasion marks the divine appearance of Goddess Sita on Earth—widely regarded as the embodiment of virtue, strength, and devotion. Worshipped as Janaki, Maithili, and Siya, Goddess Sita is honoured for her role as Lord Ram’s consort and as a symbol of ideal womanhood in Hindu tradition.

On this day, married women across India observe special rituals and fasts, praying for the long life of their husbands and the happiness and prosperity of their families. It is believed that observing the Sita Navami fast with devotion blesses women with akhand saubhagya (eternal marital bliss). The festival is marked by devotional pujas dedicated to Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, accompanied by sacred mantras, offerings, and storytelling.
