Passengers traveling to or from Jharkhand and other states, take note! A large number of trains have been cancelled due to ongoing development work on the Gorakhpur-Gorakhpur Cantt section under the Northeast Railway zone. This temporary disruption is due to non-interlocking work in the area.

The Indian Railways has officially announced the cancellation of multiple express trains operating between Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh, including services to and from Ranchi, Sambalpur, and other key cities.

The Gorakhpur-Gorakhpur Cantt railway section is undergoing crucial development work aimed at enhancing railway infrastructure. As a result, non-interlocking procedures are being implemented, which requires suspending train movement on several days for safety and operational efficiency.

Several long-distance trains from other states passing through Gorakhpur are also impacted:

• 11037 Pune-Gorakhpur Express – Cancelled on May 2

• 11038 Gorakhpur-Pune Express – Cancelled on May 3

• 12511 Gorakhpur-Kochuveli Express – Cancelled on May 1, 2, and 4

• 12512 Kochuveli-Gorakhpur Express – Cancelled on April 30, May 4, 6, and 7

• 12589 Gorakhpur-Secunderabad Express – Cancelled on April 30

• 12590 Secunderabad-Gorakhpur Express – Cancelled on May 1

• 12591 Gorakhpur-Yeshwantpur Express – Cancelled on April 26

In a silver lining for rail passengers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off a new Amrit Bharat Express from Saharsa (Bihar) to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Mumbai) on April 24. This non-AC train is a part of the government's plan to improve long-distance train connectivity.

Currently, two Amrit Bharat trains are running:

• Darbhanga–Ayodhya–Anand Vihar route

• Malda Town–Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal route
