, as it was revealed that a record number of people in the UK have been diagnosed with diabetes. There are 40,800 people with diabetes receiving Personal Independence Payments (PIPs), despite there now being 4.6 million people in the country struggling with the condition.
The country's leading diabetes charity Diabetes UK has also suggested that millions more could be undiagnosed, meaning they could be eligible for if they meet the criteria. Colette Marshall, chief executive of Diabetes UK, said: "These latest figures highlight the hidden health crisis we're facing in the UK, and underline why the Government must act now. There must be better care for the millions of people living with all types of diabetes, to support them to live well and fend off the risk of developing devastating complications."
