The remains of Neeraj Udhwani, a 33-year-old Chartered Accountant, who tragically lost his life in the recent Pahalgam terror attack, arrived in Jaipur on Wednesday evening.
His final rites are scheduled for Thursday at 9:00 AM. Neeraj, who resided in Forest View Residency, Model Town, Malviya Nagar, had traveled to Kashmir with his wife Aayushi after attending a wedding in Shimla.
The couple was enjoying a short vacation when the attack occurred. Aayushi made a heartbreaking call to her brother-in-law, stating, 'Neeraj has been shot.'
Neeraj, a qualified CA working in Dubai, had recently returned to Jaipur for the Makar Sankranti holidays just three months prior.
He married Aayushi in February 2023 at the Bhanwar Singh Palace in Pushkar.
Neeraj's elder brother, Kishor Udhwani, and his sister-in-law both work as Income Tax Inspectors.
His uncle, Dinesh Udhwani, confirmed that Neeraj had taken a short leave and extended his trip to visit Kashmir.
Cabinet Minister Jogaram Patel and Rajya Sabha MP Ghanshyam Tiwari are expected to pay their respects at the airport.
Officials indicated that Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma will visit Neeraj's home in Model Town to express condolences to the bereaved family.
The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 26 tourists on Tuesday when gunmen opened fire on civilians in Baisaran, Jammu and Kashmir.
Eyewitnesses reported that a group of heavily armed terrorists emerged from nearby forests and indiscriminately fired upon civilians, primarily targeting tourists.
Baisaran is a small meadow located three to four kilometers from the Pahalgam market, accessible only by horseback due to the lack of motorable roads.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi on Wednesday morning after shortening his trip to Saudi Arabia in response to the terror attack.
He held a brief meeting with NSA Ajit Doval, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri at the airport. PM Modi condemned the attack, asserting that those responsible will face justice and reaffirming India's unwavering commitment to combat terrorism.
