In the current IPL 2025, the Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Both of the hosts’ openers struggled, scoring 0 and 8, respectively, and the team had a terrible batting performance.

Hyderabad was once reduced to 35/5 after Ishan Kishan scored one and Nitish Kumar Reddy made two. The most contentious aspect of the game was perhaps Kishan’s decision to leave the field even though the ball had not yet struck his bat.

But thanks to a vital 99-run partnership, Heinrich Klaasen and Abhinav Manohar were able to save the SRH ship. With Abhinav scoring 43 and the South Africa international scoring 71 off 44 deliveries, Hyderabad amassed 143 runs in the first innings. Trent Boult, who took four wickets, was Mumbai’s standout player with the ball.

Mumbai’s victory lifted them up to third place in the standings. Despite a difficult start to the season, the Hardik Pandya-led team has established their dominance with four consecutive victories. Hyderabad, however, is still ranked tenth.

Rohit Sharma’s 70-run innings set many records. He became only the second Indian cricketer to reach 12,000 runs in the format, following Virat Kohli. In T20 cricket, the 37-year-old also became the Mumbai Indians’ most-sixed player. Intriguingly, Rohit struck consecutive half-centuries in the lucrative league for the first time in nine years.

He was well-supported for a time by Will Jacks, who scored 22 runs, but Suryakumar Yadav eventually arrived and altered the course of the match. He hit an undefeated 40 runs off 19 balls while playing an aggressive style of cricket. He stayed till the very end and completed the task for the team.

Jasprit Bumrah, a star bowler for India, is making history in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

By matching Lasith Malinga’s long-standing record for the most wickets taken for the Mumbai Indians (MI), Bumrah achieved yet another incredible milestone.

Short scores:

Mumbai Indians 146/3 in 15.4 overs (Rohit Sharma 70, Suryakumar Yadav 40 not out; Jaydev Undakat -25, Zeeshan Ansari 1-36) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad 143/8 in 20 overs (Heinrich Klaasen 71, Abhinav Manohar 43; Trent Boult 4-26, Deepak Chahar 2-12) by seven wickets.
