A deep sadness has fallen over the Nathaniel family in Indore as the body of Sushil Nathaniel was brought home for his last rites.

Sushil Nathaniel, who lived in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, worked as a branch manager at LIC. He was killed in a recent terror attack, and his daughter, Akanksha, was also injured by a bullet. Sushil had travelled to Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, 19 April, with his wife, son, and daughter.

Jema Vikas, the wife of Sushil’s brother Vikas, spoke to the media and shared how the family found out about the tragic news. They were informed around 9:30 pm on Tuesday night when Sushil’s son, Ostin, called them.

She said, "Jenifer Bhabhi said that the terrorist asked Sushil bhaiya to recite Kalma on his knees, following which Bhaiya reciprocated that he was Christian, and Bhaiya told Bhabhi to move aside from there. In the meantime, the terrorist shot Bhaiya, and he died on the spot. Our niece, Akansha also sustained bullet injuries in her leg."

In Raipur, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai left his meeting with textile and steel industry leaders in Mumbai early so he could attend the last rites of Dinesh Miraniya. Dinesh was also killed in the same terror attack in Pahalgam.

The attack has shocked the nation. It is being called one of the worst since the Pulwama attack in 2019, with 26 people losing their lives. Many are comparing it to other major terror incidents, and it has sparked anger and sadness across the country.

Vinod Agarwal, a relative of Dinesh Miraniya, said, "This attack is on Hindutva and it has not happened because of Hindutva. People have been killed after asking their names. Congress has always done politics. The country understands the character of Congress. It has always been against Hindutva... this is not a matter of politics."

Chief Minister Sai also said he believed the Indian Government would strongly respond to Pakistan.

He said, "I went to Mumbai for a two-day visit but returned early to attend the last rites of businessman Dinesh Miraniya, who was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack," during a press conference after reaching Raipur.

The CM added, "India has always given a befitting reply to Pakistan. This time too India will teach a lesson to Pakistan."

Following the attack, India has taken strong steps against Pakistan. These include suspending the Indus Water Treaty, closing the Wagah-Attari border, and declaring some officers from the Pakistani High Commission as Persona Non Grata.
