After 30 years on the run, Khalistani terrorist Mangat Singh, better known as Manga, was apprehended by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). A Rs 25,000 reward had been offered for information that resulted in his apprehension.
The brother of Sangat Singh, the former commander of the outlawed Khalistan Commando Force (KCF), who was slain in a police confrontation in Punjab’s Vyas district in 1990, Mangat Singh is a resident of Majhita in Amritsar, Punjab. Mangat was an active member of the KCF.
Weapons were found in his hands when the Ghaziabad Police first apprehended him on March 11, 1993. He was charged with attempted murder and violation of the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) in a complaint filed against him at the Sahibabad police station. However, Mangat Singh fled and has been avoiding arrest ever since he was released on bail on August 16, 1995.
Numerous cases were brought against him in Ghaziabad throughout the years on a variety of allegations, such as extortion and robbery. He was the subject of two arrest warrants issued by the Ghaziabad court: one on December 12, 2024, and another on April 8, 2025.
After being freed on bail, Mangat Singh, who had been residing in Vivekanagar, Ghaziabad, subsequently ran away to Punjab. Sources claim that he was just captured in Punjab. A combined squad from the Ghaziabad Police and the ATS Noida section conducted the arrest. They are questioning him now.
