A black retail assistant claims she was called 'King Kong' during a visit to the . Kierra King, 26 visited a Perlman Clinic in San Diego, on March 27 to give a test sample.
However, Kierra says she was left horrified when she found her name had been changed on the test tube to 'King Kong' in a place of her name. Calling the incident "unacceptable" and flagging the incident as "racist" Kierra uploaded footage to TikTok. In the now which has more than 10.5 million views, Kierra can be heard talking to a female assistant who insisted she was not the person who made the error and the issue was simply a typo.
At the start of the footage Kierra says: "Can you understand as a black woman why I would have a problem with that.
"You misspelt Kierra as Kong, that's insane right. Even if it is a typo which like if they wanna pull that and say that's how it was then how? Seriously how?"
To which the female assistant replies: "I can double check who did that. I'm honestly not sure who printed that.
"Previously we've never had a sort of issue like that, I understand where you are coming from
"Honestly I'm not sure how that happened. Again it wasn't me who printed that label. I do apologise."
The female assistant insists that the retail assistant's name on her chart is Kierra and not Kong.
Calling the issue "reportable" Kierra demands that the female assistant finds out who made the error.
The footage then cuts to Kierra talking to a medical assistant.
The medical assistant says: "I was the medical assistant who was with you today. I see I put the incorrect name on there. It wasn't really my intention to do that.
"It wasn't my intention to put your name like that. I did give it to you and we were double checking it to see if it was incorrect or correct. You didn't mention anything."
However, Kierra claims that nothing was double checked.
Kierra says: "What I have a problem with now is that you're straight up fabricating that we checked the name on the bottle when we did not check the name on the bottle."
The 26-year-old ends the TikTok by calling the situation "ridiculous" and asks to report the incident.
In a follow up TikTok Kierra thaked "the army behind her" and she "knew the situation was so bad she knew it was going to blow up.
She added that she is "speaking for all black people" and has reported the issue to all relevent entities.
