World Malaria Day 2025 theme is “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite.”
World Malaria Day, observed annually on April 25, is a global initiative aimed at raising awareness about the life-threatening disease, its causes, impact, and prevention. Despite advancements in healthcare, malaria continues to affect millions of lives each year, especially in remote and under-resourced regions.
The theme for World Malaria Day 2025 is “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite.” This year’s theme underscores the importance of collective action and innovation in eliminating malaria. The World Health Organization (WHO), in collaboration with the RBM Partnership to End Malaria and other global partners, is reinforcing the campaign to revitalise efforts at all levels — from international policymaking to grassroots communities — to accelerate progress toward a malaria-free world.
World Malaria Day was established by the World Health Organization during the World Health Assembly. The day was created to recognise global efforts to control malaria and to keep the world focused on the continued need for investment, innovation, and commitment in the fight against this deadly disease.
The day also serves as a platform for countries affected by malaria to showcase their progress, share research breakthroughs, and mobilise communities to take preventative actions.
Malaria remains a deadly yet preventable disease, with over 263 million new cases and approximately 5,97,000 deaths reported globally in 2023. Despite advancements in medical science, it continues to impact millions.
World Malaria Day plays a crucial role in raising awareness about early symptoms, effective prevention, and timely treatment — key measures that can significantly reduce the mortality rate.
