On Day 5 of the Asian U-15 Boxing Championships, five Indians—two girls and three boys—made it to the semifinals with strong performances.
Nelson Khwairakpam (55 kg) defeated Wang Sheng-Yang of Chinese Taipei in the first round of the Men’s U-15 tournament, while Abhijeet (61 kg) and Lakshay Phogat (64 kg) easily defeated Kyrgyzstan and Jordan, respectively.
Of the girls, Princi (52 kg) defeated Yeva Kubanova of Ukraine with a commanding 5-0 victory. In the third round, Samruddhi Satish Shinde (55 kg) defeated Kseniia Savina of Ukraine with an RSC. On Day 4, India defeated Aidar Musaev of Kyrgyzstan 3-0 thanks to a faultless performance by Rudraksh Singh Khaidem (46 kg). The team’s winning streak in Amman continued as all six of the Indian boxers competing made it to the semi-finals.
Sanchit Jayani (49 kg) and Harsil (37 kg) won handily 5-0 in the Men’s U-15 division, while Sanskar Vinod Atram (35 kg) won 4-1. In a fierce battle, Prikshit Balahra (40 kg) defeated Akhmyetkhan Nursalyem of Mongolia 3-2. Milky Meinam (43 kg) easily defeated Yeldana Abdigani of Kazakhstan in the Women’s U-15 class, winning 5-0.
