Philadelphia: Jason Isaacson, the American Jewish Committee’s Chief Policy and Political Affairs Officer, described the Pahalgam terrorist act as “brutal” and “horrific” on Friday, drawing comparisons to the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel.
Jason Isaacson said that this incident had “shaken India to the core” and has “echoes” of the coordinated October 7, 2023, attack on Southern Israel by Hamas terrorists, which resulted in the deaths of over 1,200 people and the capture of over 200 captives.
“I spoke with the media,” Jason Isaacson. “The horrific Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023, has left a lasting mark… As I consider what has transpired in Jammu & Kashmir, that assault keeps coming back to me. A vicious and horrifying assault singled out people on vacation who were Hindus. The terrorist attack has profoundly shaken India to its core.
Additionally, it has appalled people throughout the globe. Isaacson acknowledged that Hamas’s and LeT’s actions in targeting people based on their religious identification are comparable, stating that their “motivation is to identify others as evil.” This episode has echoes of what transpired in Israel on October 7, 2023.
He also gave Prime Minister Narendra Modi his full support in his efforts to “root out terrorists.”
Indeed, it is a trait of the terrorist. Their goal is to portray other people as evil and worthy of eradication through a genocidal campaign. It bears traits of a movement known for attacking Hindus and is undoubtedly indicative of Hezbollah’s attitudes regarding Jews. “My nation and other Indian allies around the world fully support PM Modi’s commitment to eliminating these terrorists,” Isaacson said.
Isaacson said that it is “not a big leap of imagination” to speculate that Pakistan could have been involved in the Pahalgam assault, implying that they would not be able to function without the financial backing or assistance of Pakistan’s military, intelligence community, and society.
“If the military, intelligence agencies, or other segments of Pakistani society don’t sponsor or back this movement, then a force with a clear incentive to expel India may exist.” The notion of Pakistan’s involvement is not implausible, according to Isaacson.
Terrorists killed 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali citizen on Tuesday when they targeted visitors at Pahalgam’s Baisaran Meadow. The assault was one of the bloodiest in the valley since the Pulwama incident in 2019, which claimed the lives of forty CRPF jawans.
