The government is reportedly considering adding 15,000 more graphics processing units (GPUs) through procurement and supply under the IndiaAI Mission.

An ET report, citing a senior government official, said that these additions will now take the total number of GPUs to 29,000.

Earlier this month, ten tech companies including E2E, NxtGen and Locuz against the tender for 10,000 GPUs.

Meanwhile, IndiaAI in a LinkedIn post has said that the submission deadline for foundation model proposals is being extended to April 30, in the wake of “receiving overwhelming response” under the IndiaAI Innovation initiative.

It is observed that the deadline has been pushed for the second time, which was initially set for April 15 and later extended to April 22 for the third round of applications.

IndiaAI Mission was approved in March 2024, over the course of next five years. It aims to create an AI ecosystem, offering supercomputing capabilities comprising over 10,000 GPUs to various stakeholders.
