On Wednesday evening, a vicious murder occurred in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, after a small-scale quarrel between two brothers over who would eat the first roti. A story on Jagran.com claims that following a disagreement, the older brother, Harishchandra, murdered his younger brother, Surendra, by striking him twice on the skull with an iron pipe while he was sleeping.
Kamala Devi, the victim’s mother, barely avoided a similar outcome by hiding throughout the assault. The locals said that Harishchandra was violent and determined to harm his mother and brother. Later, Kamala Devi reported the attack on Surendra to the police station while intoxicated. While receiving treatment at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, she too passed away from her wounds.
Kamal Singh Kushwaha has four sons; the oldest of them is Harishchandra. He works as a laborer and farmer and resides in Barla. Surendra, Virendra, and Viresh, his younger siblings, are laborers in Gurugram, Haryana. Four days before the event, Surendra had made his way back to the hamlet.
The family sat down to dine on Wednesday night as Kamala Devi was cooking supper. Harishchandra and Surendra got into a furious argument over who would be served first. Surendra retired to his room to sleep after the altercation.
Harishchandra reportedly brought an iron pipe into Surendra’s chamber at approximately one in the morning and badly injured him by striking him twice on the head. According to Jagran.com, Surendra was sent to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where he passed away while receiving treatment.
The next day, Harishchandra was taken into custody by the police, and on Thursday, he was sent to prison. According to the villagers, he had a violent past and often abused his mother. They think that if she hadn’t concealed herself during the assault, he would have also murdered her.
