World Bank made a big disclosure, 17.1 million people out of poverty line in 10 years

New York : The World Bank has made a big disclosure about poverty in India. Recently, the World Bank has given information that India has managed to get 17.1 million people living in extremely poverty between 2011-12 and 2022-23.

The World Bank said in a report on 'poverty and equality' about India that in the last decade, in the last decade, in 10 years, India has reduced poverty to a great extent. The number of people living at less than $ 2.15 per day has come down from 16.2 percent to 2.3 percent in 2022-23 in 2011-12. Which shows that 17.1 crore people have come above the poverty line.

According to the report, extreme poverty in rural areas of the country, ie villages, has come down from 18.4 percent to 2.8 percent, while in urban areas it has come down from 10.7 percent to 1.1 percent. Due to this, the rural and urban differences fell from 7.7 percent to 1.7 percent. Which has declined by 16 percent on an annual basis. It states that India has also been successful in coming to the category of Lower Medium Income Segment. In this, poverty declined from 61.8 percent to 28.1 percent, using $ 3.65 per day lower medium income segment ie LMIC poverty line. Due to which 37.8 crore people came out of poverty.

The poverty of the villages has come down from 69 percent to 32.5 percent during this period, while urban poverty declined from 43.5 percent to 17.2 percent. Due to this, the rural and urban differences decreased from 25 percent to 15 percent and the decline on an annual basis was 7 percent. According to the report, in 2021-22, India had 65 percent stake in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh in 2021-22. Also, his contribution in extreme poverty reduction by 2022-23 was 2/3.

The short report of the World Bank states that after this, these states still have 54 percent of people living in extreme poverty in the year 2022-23 and 51 percent of poor people at various levels in 2019-21.

It states that the non-Monthic poverty index measured through Multi-time poverty index i.e. MPI has come down from 53.8 percent to 16.4 percent in 2005-06 by 2019-21. According to the report, the growth in employment has left behind 2021-22 working age population. Especially among women, the unemployment rate is increasing by decreasing the employment rate. Urban unemployment declined by 6.6 percent in the first quarter of FY 2024-25, the lowest since 2017-18.

Referring to the challenges in this, it has been said that young unemployment is 13.3 percent. Unemployment between high education graduates is up to 29 percent. Only 23 percent of non -agricultural paid jobs are in the organized sector and most agricultural employment still remains unorganized. Startups, especially between rural workers and women, are growing. After 31 percent employment rate in women, there is inequality at the level of men and women. More men are in paid jobs than women.
