New Delhi: Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders were forced to split points as their IPL clash was called off due to heavy rain and a thunderstorm in Kolkata.
Youngsters Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh lit up Eden Gardens with explosive fifties putting on a 120-run stand for the first wicket as Punjab Kings posted a formidable 201/4 setting the stage for a thrilling Saturday clash.
KKR began their chase but managed just one over scoring seven runs before a powerful thunderstorm followed by persistent rain forced the game to be abandoned.
Batting first after winning the toss PBKS got off to a blistering start. Priyansh who had earlier recorded one of the fastest centuries in IPL history hammered 69 off just 35 deliveries while Prabhsimran smashed 83 from 49 balls. The KKR bowlers struggled to make inroads until the 12th over.
Vaibhav Arora (2/34) Varun Chakravarthy (1/39) and Andre Russell (1/27) were among the wickets for KKR.
