The statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs said that this time the pilgrimage will be carried out through two routes. Through Lipulekh Pass located in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand and Nathu La Pass in the state of Sikkim. Lipulekh Pass is located at an altitude of about 17,000 feet above sea level and has been a traditional route of travel.
According to this year's travel plan, a total of 15 batches will be sent. 5 batch will be sent from Lipulekh route, each will have 50 passengers. At the same time, 10 batches have been set to travel from Nathu La Pass, which will also include 50 passengers in each batch.
Application process for travel has been started online and interested passengers [kmy.gov.in](Can apply on. Passengers will be selected completely under computerized, fair and gender-balanced system. The selection process will be done in a random manner by the computer.
The ministry has also clarified that the entire process to the journey, such as application, selection and information, has been completely digital since the year 2015. Therefore, applicants are not required to send letters or fax. There is also a 'feedback' option on the website, where passengers can get information, enter their comments or give any suggestions. This journey is considered to be very important from spiritual terms for pilgrims and now thousands of devotees will get relief from its restoration.
