Bhawanipatna: Authorities in Odisha have discovered the bodies of a young man and a girl hanging from a tree in the Kalahandi district on Saturday.

The deceased, a 23-year-old male and a 17-year-old female, were found at Kaodala village, located within the jurisdiction of the Ampani police station.

Investigators believe that the pair may have taken their own lives due to familial disapproval of their relationship, which was reportedly hindered by caste differences.

According to police, "It appears they may have died by su*cide as their families did not accept their relationship," noting that both individuals were residents of the same village.

Authorities have indicated that a thorough investigation is underway and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem analysis.
