News Update April 27, 2025 10:32 AM

After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the demand for taking strict action against Pakistan has started gaining momentum. On this, BCCI is now being asked not to play cricket with Pakistan. Some reports are also claiming that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) not to keep India and Pakistan in the same group. However, according to the report of Cricbuzz, there is no truth in these speculations at the moment.

Women’s World Cup may be affected

If the matches between India and Pakistan do not take place, it may affect the Women’s ODI World Cup to be held in September-October, for which Pakistan has recently qualified. This tournament will be played in a round-robin format, in which every team will have to play one match against all the other teams. However, all the matches of Pakistan will be held in Sri Lanka, but there is doubt over the match between India and Pakistan.

Apart from this, before the Women’s World Cup, there is also the Men’s Asia Cup, in which BCCI is the host. Now questions have been raised on the organization of this tournament as well.

BCCI will accept the government’s stance

There is an atmosphere of outrage in India after the Pahalgam terror attack, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already made it clear that as long as the government’s stance remains the same, there will be no bilateral cricket series with Pakistan. BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla had said, “The board stands with the victims and we strongly condemn this attack. As long as the government’s stance remains the same, we will not play bilateral cricket with Pakistan. We participate in ICC tournaments because that is part of a different international contract.”

BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia also expressed grief

BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia also expressed grief over the attack and said that everyone is shocked and saddened by this cowardly attack. He strongly condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the victim families. A 60-second silence was observed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium during the 41st match of the IPL to pay tribute to the 26 civilians killed in the attack. This step was taken by the BCCI to demonstrate the spirit of national mourning and respect.
