BBC Breakfast fans tuning in to today for their daily dose of the show found themselves greeted with a huge scheduling shake-up for a second-day running.

This morning's show (April 27) began at the usual time of 6am on BBC One, but viewers were forced to switch channels to continue viewing after just one hour.

The news programme was moved to BBC Two to make way for Match of the Day - but that isn't the only thing causing disruption to the usual BBC Sunday schedule.

At 8.30am, the BBC's coverage of the London Marathon begins which takes up a huge slot of 8.30am to 2pm. Gabby Logan will present coverage of the 45th edition of the race with around 50,000 competitors expected to take part.

Among the racers are two dads whose daughters were killed in the Southport attack last year while attending a Taylor Swift-themed dance event.

David Stancombe and Sergio Aguiar will be raising money for charitable projects started in memory of nine-year-old Alice Aguiar, seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe and Bebe King, six. Bebe's parents will also be there to cheer on the pair from the sidelines.

It isn't just BBC Breakfast that is disrupted today. The huge sporting event has had a knock-on effect on other shows too.

Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg has also been shuffled to BBC Two, with the show's presenter issuing a quick reminder to viewers during a live link with the Breakfast team.

She reassured viewers she was "happy" to be on BBC Two today. However, some viewers may be less than impressed with the channel hopping they are being forced to do, especially as it is the second-day running there has been disruption to the usual schedule.

Yesterday (April 26), BBC Breakfast started at its regular slot of 6am but ceased transmission just before 8:30am. Under normal circumstances, fans enjoy the broadcast right up until 10am.

The change was made to allow for the BBC's coverage of the Pope's funeral, with presenter Naga Munchetty telling viewers: "Early finish for Breakfast today. The time now is just coming up to half past 8 because next on BBC One there will be, of course, live coverage of the funeral of Pope Francis. That begins at nine o'clock."

Breakfast airs every day on One and iPlayer from 6am
