New Delhi: Krunal Pandya hammered an unbeaten 73 off 47 deliveries and Virat Kohlis stunning innings of 51 off 47 balls guided Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a six-wicket win over Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2025 clash on Sunday. Krunal Pandya played a brilliant hand smashing an unbeaten 73 off 47 balls to steer Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a comfortable six-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals on Sunday. Having featured in every IPL edition since 2016 Krunal timed his innings expertly while partnering with chase specialist Virat Kohli who scored 51 off 47 deliveries. Together the pair built a crucial 119-run partnership from 84 balls helping RCB chase down a target of 163 in just 18.3 overs and keeping their perfect away record intact. RCBs bowlers led by Josh Hazlewood and their spinners tightened the screws on DC during the middle overs restricting them to 162 for six. The result marked RCBs seventh victory in 10 matches while Delhi registered their third defeat from nine games — both teams remain strong contenders for playoff spots. RCB were in a spot of trouble at 26 for three but the experienced duo of Krunal and Kohli steadied the innings. In his debut season with the franchise Krunal has contributed effectively with both bat and ball and on Sunday night he turned in a match-winning performance on a tricky pitch. Kohli played the anchor role to perfection allowing Krunal to find timely boundaries. The left-hander’s standout shots included a clean strike down the ground off Mukesh Kumar and a lofted drive over extra cover against Kuldeep Yadav. Krunal ended with four sixes in his innings registering only his second IPL fifty in 116 innings. Kohlis consistency this season has been outstanding and his knock against DC was his sixth score over 50 in 10 matches. His elegant straight drive off Mitchell Starc was one of the highlights of his innings. Yet it was Krunals night as he stole the show with a composed and powerful innings. Earlier in the match KL Rahul top-scored for Delhi with 41 off 39 while Tristan Stubbs gave the innings late momentum with a brisk 34 off just 18 balls. RCB opted to bowl first anticipating more favourable batting conditions under lights. Returning from injury Faf du Plessis (22 off 26) opened with the aggressive Abhishek Porel (28 off 11) who ensured DC got to 52 for two in the powerplay. Porel continuing his fine form launched two impressive sixes off Bhuvneshwar Kumar one an authoritative pull over mid-wicket the other a stylish flick over fine leg. While du Plessis struggled to find fluency Porel was able to locate the gaps with ease. Hazlewood who has been consistent with his back-of-length deliveries took just three balls to dismiss Porel forcing an edge down the leg side. Karun Nair who started with a boundary via a short-arm pull fell soon after miscuing a shot off Yash Dayal to mid-wicket. RCB spinners then took control post-powerplay. Between overs 7 and 10 Krunal and Suyash Sharma conceded just 20 runs a period that also saw the dismissal of du Plessis tightening RCB’s grip. It wasnt until the closing stages that DC found some acceleration thanks to Stubbs late fireworks. The penultimate and 19th overs bowled by Hazlewood and Dayal yielded 17 and 19 runs respectively helping the home side push their total past 160.
