There has been a big change in the new books of NCERT. References to the Mughals have been removed from the books and chapters related to Indian heritage have been added.

A major change has been made in the school syllabus of the country. All references related to the Mughals and the Delhi Sultanate have been removed from the new NCERT class 7 books. Now these books include the sagas of Indian dynasties, sacred geography, and government campaigns like "Make in India" and "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao". These changes have been made under the new National Education Policy (NEP) and National Curriculum Framework (NCFSE) 2023.

Emphasis on Indian knowledge traditions

The new books will deeply introduce students to Indian traditions, philosophy, and knowledge systems. According to NCERT officials, at present the first part of these books has been released. The second part is also expected to come in the coming months, although it is not clear whether the old topics that were removed will return or not.

The description of the Mughals was shortened earlier too.

This is not the first time that content related to the Mughal period has been cut. Earlier also NCERT had shortened the description of Tughlaq, Khilji, Mamluk, and Lodi dynasties and the information about the achievements of Mughal emperors. But this time, not even a trace of the Mughals and Delhi Sultanate has been left in the new books. Every chapter has now been prepared in a completely new form.

Rich Indian history in new chapters

In the new social science book titled "Exploring Society: India and Beyond", new chapters have been added on ancient Indian dynasties like Magadha, Maurya, Shunga, and Satvahana. Along with this, sacred geography has also been given a place in the book, in which detailed information has been given on Indian religious places like 12 Jyotirlingas, Char Dham Yatra, Shakti Peeth, and Maha Kumbh.

A new approach for children

These changes aim to connect students with the country's own cultural heritage. Apart from this, emphasis has been laid on increasing awareness among children towards nation-building by making government initiatives like "Make in India" and "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" a part of education.
