In front of the famous Eiffel Tower in France, members of the Indian diaspora came together to denounce Pakistan for “harboring and supporting terror activities” and to show support for the victims of the recent horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists and injured numerous others.
The large-scale demonstration on Sunday was organized by the Indian diaspora.
A member of the Indian diaspora told ANI that Pakistan would have to “face consequences” if it does not stop terrorism and emphasized Pakistan’s responsibility in it.
“Pakistan has also carried out several assaults in the past, including the terror strikes in Pahalgam, Pulwama, and 26/11. Today, the French Indian diaspora has united.
We just want to convey to Pakistan that all Indians have animosity for their nation; we do not speak for any particular faith or political party. There will be repercussions if they fail to stop terrorists,” he said.
Another diasporan, Rajaram Muniswamy, said that the demonstration, which attracted more than 300 people, demonstrated India’s diversity and solidarity against terrorism.
“Today’s event was fantastic. With almost 300 participants, we demonstrated our variety and solidarity. Everyone in the society, from Tamil Nadu to Kashmir, united against the bloodshed and terrorism in Kashmir.
The world will recognize us as a country that values peace,” he told ANI.
Emotional tributes to the victims of the Pahalgam incident and impassioned remarks characterized the demonstration, which took place from 3 to 4 p.m. (local time). Many members of the Indian diaspora in France participated in the event, across language and geographical boundaries.
Pakistan was directly held accountable by the demonstrators for harboring and enabling the terrorist attacks that continue to kill innocent people in Kashmir. The protesters, brandishing placards, urged the world community to acknowledge and take decisive action against state-sponsored terrorism.
The demonstration’s organizers emphasized that it was not just against a particular incident but also against terrorism as a whole, which threatens world peace and stability.
They called on the United Nations, the European Union, and France to impose harsher sanctions on nations that are proven to be supporting and abetting terrorism. A minute of silence for the victims and a group commitment to keep speaking out against terror marked the end of the event.
Tourists were the target of the April 22 terror assault in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, including one Nepalese person. The victims were shot dead close to Baisaran Meadow, one of the area’s most visited tourist attractions.
Since the Pulwama assault in 2019, which claimed the lives of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans, this incident ranks among the bloodiest in the area.
