Actor Paul Rudd spoke about why he still “feels so famous” after starring in the 1995 adolescent comedy coming-of-age movie Clueless.
“I was a working actor and I still had a regular job when I was doing this commercial the first time,” Rudd stated, adding, “I didn’t really feel so famous,” according to People.
“But it wasn’t—nothing felt so different really,” he said. “And then as it slowly started to, as I started getting more work, every now and then someone would say, ‘Hey, Clueless!’ or whatever.”
“And, you know, I think just the very nature of the time when there was no social media, there was no internet — everything just went by just a little bit slower,” said Rudd.
Wet Hot American Summer (2001), Romeo + Juliet (1996), Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004), The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), Knocked Up (2007), I Love You, Man (2009), Clueless (1995), and Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995) were among the movies in which Rudd starred.
According to People, he said that throughout the 1990s, he “would do whatever kind of work I could get” to support his aspirations of becoming an actor, which included DJing at bar mitzvahs and weddings and serving at tables.
He later achieved success and contributed to several great ventures.
Rudd said that “one of the first commercials” he got during his ascent to fame was with Super Nintendo. He stated it was enjoyable to work on the new Nintendo Switch 2 advertisement and that it “felt like old times.”
In the ad, he wore “a long black duster, indie rock hair, and beaded necklace,” replicating his classic ’90s style.
He previously said that “one of the first commercials” he got during his ascent to fame was with Super Nintendo. It “felt like old times,” he remarked, describing the new Nintendo Switch 2 commercial as enjoyable to work on, according to People.
