India will compete in the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers against Myanmar, Indonesia, and Turkmenistan

Following Monday’s draw at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the India U20 women’s squad was placed in Group D of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Thailand 2026 Qualifiers, along with Myanmar, Indonesia, and Turkmenistan.

While hosts Vietnam, Kyrgyz Republic, Hong Kong, China, and Singapore are placed in Group B, reigning champions DPR Korea, Nepal, hosts Bhutan, Mongolia, and Saudi Arabia will compete for qualifying in Group A.

In Group C, the hosts, Tajikistan, Palestine, China Taipei, and Australia will compete. Group D of the Qualifiers will be held in Myanmar from August 6–10 using a centralized single round-robin system.

Six-time champions Japan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, hosts Malaysia, and Guam are drawn in Group F, while hosts and past champions China PR, Lebanon, Cambodia, and Syria will face off in Group E.

Former champions Korea Republic, Bangladesh, hosts Laos, and Timor-Leste will compete for the one automatic entry from Group H, while hosts Uzbekistan, Jordan, Northern Mariana Islands, and Bahrain will compete in Group G.

Eight groups of 33 teams were formed, with five teams in Group A and four teams in each of the other seven groups. The 12th edition of the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup, which will be held from April 1 to April 18, 2026, will include 12 teams, including the group winners, the top three runners-up, and the hosts, Thailand.

AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup debuts will be sought by Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Kyrgyz Republic, Laos, Lebanon, Mongolia, Northern Mariana Islands, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tajikistan, Timor Leste, and Turkmenistan.

The FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup 2026 will be open to the top four teams in the final event.

Up until 2024, the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup was an eight-team competition; starting in 2026, it will have 12 teams.

A scoring system based on the teams’ final rankings from the tournament’s three prior iterations was used to determine the draw’s seedings. India was included in Pot 2.
