According to The Star, Hide KL’s chef Shaun Ng shared a photo with Lau on his Xiaohongshu account. In the picture, Lau, dressed casually in a denim jacket and white pants, smiled warmly as he posed with Ng in the restaurant’s kitchen.

“What an honour. Don’t blink. It’s not AI,” Ng captioned the post. “Thank you for the arrival of the superstar Andy Lau. That night, he really came. It was indeed an unforgettable evening.”

Reports indicated that Lau was at the restaurant for a private dinner with close friends and family. Malaysian news site Hype reported that local journalist Wong Chun Wai also attended the dinner and later shared his experience meeting Lau on Instagram. In his post, Wong described Lau as “incredibly humble and fit,” adding that the superstar is “aging well at 63.”

Many fans speculated that Lau’s visit to Malaysia was to see his in-laws. Lau’s wife, Carol Chu, is a former Malaysian model. The couple, who married in 2008, often visit Malaysia with their 12-year-old daughter Hanna, especially during Lunar New Year and Qingming Festival.

Lau, 63, is celebrated as one of the Cantopop “Four Heavenly Kings”—a title given to the four male singers who dominated pop music, television, cinema, and advertising across the region during the 1990s—alongside Aaron Kwok, Jacky Cheung, and Leon Lai.
