The original Showman of Indian Cinema actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor left a lasting legacy of films that still remain fresh in the audiences mind. He was a multi-talented actor director and producer known for his unique storytelling. Married to Krishna Kapoor he had three sons- Randhir Kapoor Rishi Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor. All three decided to carry forward their familys legacy and became actors. However being the eldest Randhir Kapoor was the first one to enter the profession. Despite coming from a family of renowned actors Raj Kapoor made sure that his beginning in the industry wouldnt be that easy. Before becoming an actor Randhir Kapoor was hired as an assistant by Raj Kapoor. This revelation was made Karisma Kapoor on the singing reality show Indian Idol. She revealed that her grandfather Raj Kapoor used to make his father Randhir Kapoor clean superstar Rajendra Kumars shoes and also asked him to travel in third AC trains. It was a lesson by Raj Kapoor to teach his son to start from the scratch without any of his support. Karisma Kapoor revealed that his father as an assistant director didnt even made to use a clapperboard. He was asked to clean shoes of Rajendra Kapoor before every take and observe what is happening on the set. The film starred the three generations of the Kapoor clan Prithviraj Kapoor Raj Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor. It also starred Randhirs wife Babita Kapoor. The film was a moderate success at the box office and was also Prithvirajs last on-screen appearance. Following that Randhir garnered popularity with some of his notable work in films like Jeet (1972) Jawani Diwani (1972) Raampur Ka Lakshman (1972) and Haath Ki Safai (1974).
