Ottawa: According to CBC News, the Liberal Party is expected to win a fourth straight term in Canada’s federal election, which is an uncommon accomplishment in the nation’s political history.

The Liberals’ predicted win is noteworthy considering the party’s past difficulties in polling, even if it is still unclear whether they will create a majority or minority administration. To create a majority government, a party has to win 172 seats, although preliminary returns have not yet shown whether the Liberals have achieved that number.

After the 45th federal election, Prime Minister Mark Carney and his Liberal Party are predicted to stay in power, according to Canadian news agency CTV News. Carney led the Liberals through a difficult and uncertain election campaign after Justin Trudeau resigned due to an internal party uprising.

Key players in the contest included Carney, Bloc Quebecois Leader Yves-Francois Blanchet, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, and Green Party co-leader Jonathan Pedneault. The Liberals’ victory, according to CTV News, is the first time in contemporary Canadian history that a party has maintained power for four terms in a row.

U.S. President Donald Trump’s assaults on sovereignty and tariff threats were among the exceptional conditions surrounding the election. Throughout the campaign, Trump’s frequent insults against Canada, calling it the “51st state,” heightened political tensions.

In response to these difficulties, Mark Carney established himself as a leader who could protect Canadian sovereignty and restore the economy so that it could resist outside influences. The Liberals had a four-point advantage going into the election, according to an IPSOS survey for Global News, indicating that Carney was gaining ground.

Carney said that the necessity to find a new mandate in the face of mounting American threats was the reason for his decision to call an early election, which he referred to as the “most significant crisis” of his life.

He was more popular with voters because of his experience as a central banker and his adamant opposition to Trump’s annexation statements. Carney’s focus on resiliency and national strength throughout the campaign seemed to strike a chord with many Canadians.

Carney has worked to strengthen relationships with India, in contrast to his predecessor, Justin Trudeau, whose foreign policy caused tensions with the country. In a notable move toward improved ties with New Delhi, he expressed public sorrow after the horrific tragedy in Pahalgam.
