There’s a big few weeks ahead for as the end of the season draws nearer.

will be hoping that he is planning for football next season, but there still needs to be work done if that is to be the case. This season the top five positions of the Premier League will play in Europe’s elite competition.

Aston Villa are another threat, with the Midlands side three points behind Chelsea and Forest in seventh position.

Whatever happens in the final games of the campaign, planning will already be underway for the summer transfer window. Chelsea continue to be linked with moves as Maresca looks to shape his squad.

With that in mind, here is a look at a couple of the latest stories doing the rounds over the last 24 hours. We’ve also added our own thoughts on the situations.

Chelsea ‘considering’ shock transfer decision

Chelsea are ‘considering’ parting ways with defender Wesley Fofana in the summer transfer window, according to reports in France.

claim that the club are ‘seriously considering’ parting ways with the player when the transfer window opens due to the defender’s struggles with injury. It is said that he could move either on loan or in a permanent deal.

If it is to be a permanent move, a transfer to Saudi Arabia is named as the most likely destination due to the asking price that is expected to be demanded by Chelsea. If it’s a loan deal, then Marseille are said to be interested, although they are likely to have to cover the player’s full salary.

FL says : Fofana has seen his time at Chelsea plagued with injuries so far and will be unavailable for the rest of the current campaign after undergoing hamstring surgery. However, Enzo Maresca has already spoken about managing players who have previously struggled with injury.

If Chelsea can help the player overcome the injury niggles, then his undoubted quality that saw the Blues pay £80 million is likely to shine through.

Transfer ‘talks’ planned

Chelsea, along with four other Premier League sides, are planning on holding ‘talks’ with Atalanta star Ademola Lookman over a possible summer transfer window, according to reports.

claim that the Blues, along with Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Arsenal, are all showing an interest in the former Everton, Fulham and Leicester City man.

Lookman moved to Italy in the summer of 2022; he’s scored 13 goals in 28 Serie A appearances this season. His performances since his move have caught the eye.

Atalanta are said to be demanding a fee of €60-65 million (£51m-£55m) if they are to cash in this summer.

FL says : It seems that Chelsea will have a lot of competition for the winger if they are to make a move this summer. His Premier League experience means that he shouldn’t have to have too much of an adaptation period if he is to move back into English football.

However, at 27 years old, there will be a question of if a fee of over £50 million will be a bit steep for a player who is not likely to have much of a resale value in a few years' time.
