OpenAI has said that now users can shop directly through the ChatGPT app. This new feature has been added to ChatGPT's Search mode, which will allow users to search and buy anything on the Internet, just like you shop using Google Search.

OpenAI posted on X (formerly Twitter), writing, "We are excited to announce that we have further improved ChatGPT search and have started rolling out a better shopping experience from today." The company says that it wants to make shopping "simpler, faster and better, making it easier to find, compare and buy products." This new shopping feature will be available in ChatGPT's default GPT-4o model.

According to OpenAI, ChatGPT's Search feature is currently the most popular and fastest growing feature. The company claims that in the last one week alone, more than one billion web searches have been done through the ChatGPT search mode.

With the update, ChatGPT search will now show better product results, visual details, prices, reviews and direct links to buy. OpenAI has also clarified that the products shown will not be ads i.e. “All these product results are independently selected and are not ads.” This new feature is being gradually rolled out to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Free, and non-login users in all regions and will be available to everyone in the next few days.
