Sometimes a part of the body is considered to be a normal thing, especially when one is sitting or lying for a long time in a situation. But if this numbness is happening again and again, without any clear reason, then it is not right to take it lightly. This can be a sign of a deep or serious illness in your body, especially of problems to nervous system or blood circulation.

What is numbness?

Numbness in the body means low or elimination of sensation in a part. It can be felt in the hands, feet, fingers, face or any part of the body. It can also contain symptoms like burning, tingling or prick.


Possible causes and diseases

1. Diabetic neuropathy

Long -term uncontrolled diabetes damages the veins, which can cause numbness, tingling and pain in the feet or hands.

2. Cervical or spinal disc problem

Any pressure in the neck or spinal cord, such as slip disc, can affect the veins and cause numbness in any part of the body.

3. Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

It is an autoimmune neurological disease in which the body's immune system attacks the brain and spinal nerves. An initial symptom of this can cause frequently numbness in any part of the body.

4. Vitamin B12 deficiency

B12 deficiency affects the function of the veins, which can cause problems of tingling, fatigue and numbness. This is common among vegetarian people.

5. Blood circulation blockage

If blood is not able to reach properly in any part, then that part may be numb. This can be caused by blockage or contraction in a blood tube.

6. Pressure or injury on the vein

Sitting in the same posture for a long time, or pressure on the vein can also cause temporary numbness. If this is happening frequently, it can be a sign of a permanent vein problem.


What to do?

  • Get a medical check: If you are feeling numbness again and again, contact a neurologist or general physician as soon as possible.
  • Blood test and neurological investigation: Get check for confirmation of vitamin deficiency, diabetes or neurological disorder.
  • Lifestyle changes: Avoid sitting in the same posture for a long time, exercise regularly and have a balanced diet.

Frequent numbness of body or legs is not a minor problem. This can be a sign of the onset of serious diseases. You can avoid big future problems by examining timely and correct treatment.
