The speculation surfaced on Weibo on Monday afternoon, quickly becoming one of the platform’s most discussed topics, amassing over 3 million views and hundreds of thousands of comments.
According to the rumors, many years ago, Lu and Chan had a son together. However, as Chan was already married to Taiwanese actress Joan Lin at the time, Lu kept the relationship and their child a secret for over 30 years.
Neither Chan nor Lu have commented publicly on the allegations.
At 71, Chan is regarded as one of the most iconic martial artists in film history. Over a career spanning more than six decades, he has appeared in over 150 domestic and international films.
He gained widespread recognition with his breakthrough role in the 1978 kung fu action comedy “Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow,” followed by similar action films that solidified his fame. Chan later achieved international stardom for his role in the “Rush Hour” series, an American buddy cop action-comedy franchise.
Chan married Lin in 1982, and the couple shares a son, Jaycee Chan. He also has a daughter out of wedlock with Hong Kong actress Elaine Ng, who was crowned Miss Asia in 1990.
Lu, 63, is best known for her roles in TV dramas adapted from the novels of Taiwanese author Chiung Yao.
