Progress in India-US Trade Negotiations

New Delhi: The Indian government and the United States are striving for 'early mutual wins' as they work towards finalizing the initial phase of their proposed bilateral trade agreement, as stated by the commerce ministry on Tuesday.

Last week, chief negotiators from both nations wrapped up three days of discussions in Washington.

The talks covered a broad spectrum of topics, including both tariff and non-tariff issues related to goods.

"The teams explored pathways to finalize the first segment of the mutually advantageous, multi-sector Bilateral Trade Agreement by the fall of 2025, focusing on opportunities for early mutual benefits," the statement revealed.

While there have been fruitful virtual engagements at the expert level, in-person meetings are scheduled to commence at the end of May.
