Mumbai fire todaywoke to a massive fire at Link Square Mall in Bandra (West) early Tuesday morning, after a blaze erupted in the basement-level Croma showroom, calling a Level-IV emergency response and raising fresh alarms about fire safety in commercial complexes. As of the latest update, the firefighters are still trying to extinguish the flames.
The fire, which broke out around 44:11 am, quickly intensified and was escalated by the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) to a Level-IV call — one of the highest severity ratings. Thick plumes of smoke engulfed the multi-storey mall on Linking Road, as firefighters battled the flames deep in the three basement levels where the electronics showroom is located.
Firefighters deployed three small hose lines and 12 motor pumps in a sustained effort to contain the inferno. While operations are still underway, officials confirmed that no injuries have been reported so far.

Smoke-Logged Basements and Hours-Long Operation

“The fire was confined to the Croma showroom, spread across three basement levels of the G+3 mall structure. Heavy smoke logging throughout the premises made operations particularly challenging,” an MFB official said.
A video from the site shows thick, dark smoke pouring from the building as fire crews worked to bring the situation under control. The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, and a detailed investigation is expected once the site is secured.

ED Office Fire Adds to Safety Concerns

The incident comes just days after another significant blaze at Mumbai’s iconic Kaiser-i-Hind building in Ballard Estate — home to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office and other government departments.
That fire, which began around 2:31 am, was initially tagged as Level II but later upgraded to Level III as flames spread. It took nearly nine hours to bring it under control. While there were no casualties, important documents and files are feared to have been damaged.
