Maryam, a native of Islamabad, made a desperate plea to the Center on Tuesday to let her and her Indian husband to remain in the state of Uttar Pradesh, as the government prepares to deport the “last” Pakistani national in just one day.

Whether Maryam, who is on a temporary visa, is the last Pakistani remaining in Uttar Pradesh to be “expelled” in accordance with the Center’s directives after the Pahalgam terror assault is still unknown. The timing of Maryam’s request coincides with Uttar Pradesh being the first state to repatriate almost all Pakistani nationals within 24 hours, with just one left to be deported, according to an official announcement.

The precise number of Pakistani nationals deported and their visa information (whether short-term or long-term) were not disclosed by the state administration. Furthermore, the final Pakistani national to be deported on April 30 was not identified.

Three years ago, Maryam married Amir, who lived in the Bulandshahr district’s Khurja. Two months ago, the Pakistani lady obtained a short-term visa and has been residing in Khurja.
