“We direct every employee to communicate in public with the highest level of consistency and discipline.” In a circular to the party leaders, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal stressed that anyone authorized to speak on the party’s behalf must stick to the CWC’s declared stance in the resolution voted on April 24, 2025.

“Any violation of this instruction will result in strict disciplinary action without exception.” Venugopal said, “Let us continue to be mindful of the Congress Party’s traditions and values and rise to the occasion with the dignity and restraint that the country rightfully expects of us.”

According to the circular, the Congress party is in absolute sympathy with the country during this time of sorrow and is very distressed by the abhorrent terrorist act in Pahalgam.

“At this critical juncture, when our collective resolve is being tested, the Indian National Congress must exemplify unity, maturity, and responsibility—virtues that have defined our conduct through decades of national service, both in government and in opposition,” the circular said.

“On April 24, 2025, the Congress Working Committee (CWC), chaired by Hon. Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, passed a unanimous resolution outlining the party’s definite and well-thought-out position on the Pahalgam incident. All public statements of the party’s position on the issue must be based only on this resolution,” it said.

In the meanwhile, the Congress party criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the “security lapse” that resulted in a terrorist assault in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and on Tuesday removed the contentious post on X that seemed to show a decapitated figure of Modi with the phrase “gayab” (missing).

With the words “GAYAB” and the description “Jimmedariyo ke samay-Gayab” (Missing at the time of duty), the post included a picture of a kurta-pyjama and black sandals. The BJP and its allies strongly criticized this.

According to BJP spokesman Pradeep Bhandari, the Congress removed their “Sar Tan Se Juda” graphic tweet as a result of Indian citizens’ outcry.

“The Congress party removes their “Sar Tan Se Juda” graphic tweet after pressure from Indian citizens! In a post on X, he said, “This will not conceal the anti-national, pro-Pakistan characteristics of the Congress.”
